Sad Poem -Homeless- By Maureen M. Wilson

Voices from the StreetHere we are, with our signs,
don't you see the big, black lines?
Hungry, homeless, work for food,
yes, I know they're really crude.
But everyday at the red light,
we walk the streets left and right,
holding them out for all to see,
the message is clear, Please help me!

Most people just look ahead straight,
can't stop now, they're running late!
Until a child asks without a care,
Why's that man standing there?...

The answers are pretty much the same,
The one last drink, lost the game!

So here we are, on our knees
our minds clamoring, yelling Please!
Please let me live another day,
I eat the things you throw away!

Don't you think we deserve to live?
A normal life, so WE could give?
Instead of living off people's trash,
we want to buy, NEW things with cash.

Like you do...like you do.
